Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 31, 2026 · Last Updated: March 31, 2026
1. Introduction
FitPal Trainer ("FitPal," "we," "us," or "our") is a fitness and health tracking mobile application developed and operated by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the FitPal Trainer application ("App") and our related website.
By using FitPal, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, full name, and password (hashed). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
2.2 Profile & Body Measurement Data
You may optionally provide personal details such as height, weight, gender, date of birth, and body measurements (neck, waist, hip). This data is used to calculate health metrics (BMI, body fat percentage, BMR, etc.) displayed within the App.
2.3 Workout & Activity Data
We collect data generated during your workouts, including session duration, distance, pace, calories burned, steps, heart rate, and workout type (running, hiking, yoga, fitness, indoor running).
2.4 Location Data
When you use GPS-tracked workout modes (running, hiking), we collect precise location data to map your route in real time. We also collect location data in the background while a workout session is actively running, so tracking continues if the app is minimized. Location tracking only activates when you explicitly start a workout session and stops when you end it. We do not track your location outside of active workout sessions.
2.5 Health Data
With your permission, FitPal reads heart rate, step count, and active energy data from your device's health platform to display during workouts. We may also write workout summaries (calories burned, exercise minutes) back to these platforms.
We do not sell, share with third parties, or use your health data for advertising. Health data is used exclusively within the App to provide fitness-related features and is not stored on external servers beyond what is necessary for the App's core functionality. Health data is not stored in iCloud or any cloud backup service.
2.6 Nutrition & AI Food Scanner Data
You can manually log meals and nutritional intake. If you use the AI Food Scanner feature, a photo of your food is sent to an AI service for calorie estimation. The image is processed in real time and is not stored by us after the analysis is complete. No personal information (name, email, health data) is included in these image analysis requests.
2.7 Community Content
If you use the Community feature, your posts, comments, and likes are collected and displayed to other users. Community posts are automatically deleted after 7 days.
2.8 Device & Usage Data
We may collect device type, operating system version, app version, and crash data to improve app stability and performance.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide core features: workout tracking, GPS route mapping, nutrition logging, health metric calculations, audio coaching, and community interactions.
- Personalize your experience: fitness survey responses and profile data are used to tailor recommendations and coaching.
- Sync health data: integrate with your device's health platform to display real-time metrics.
- Improve the App: analyze aggregated, anonymous usage patterns to fix bugs and develop new features.
- Send notifications: daily workout reminders (if you opt in) and in-app updates.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your account and workout data are stored securely on cloud infrastructure with row-level access controls, ensuring users can only access their own data. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
Authentication sessions are managed with secure token handling. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We do not store encryption keys alongside user data.
5. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with third-party service providers strictly as needed to operate the App, including:
- Cloud infrastructure providers for database hosting, authentication, and file storage.
- AI service providers for food image analysis in the AI Scanner feature. Only the food image is sent; no personal data is attached.
- Authentication providers if you use third-party sign-in. Only basic profile information (name, email) is received.
We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & Correction: you can view and edit your profile data at any time within the App.
- Account Deletion: you may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email below. Upon deletion, all personal data, workout history, nutrition logs, and community posts are permanently removed from our systems.
- Permissions: you can revoke location, health data, camera, or notification permissions at any time through your device settings. Some features will be limited without these permissions.
- Data Portability: you may request an export of your data by contacting us.
7. Children's Privacy
FitPal is available to users of all ages. Children under 18 should use the App with parental or guardian consent and supervision. We do not knowingly collect more personal information from children than is necessary to provide the App's features. If a parent or guardian believes their child has provided personal information without consent, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Workout session data is stored indefinitely to maintain your history and statistics. Community posts are automatically deleted after 7 days. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
